Hiking time: 6 to 7 hours
Distance: Approximately 10 km
Environment: Montane forest
Day two: Umbwe Cave camp (2850m) – Barranco camp (3985m)
Hiking time: 5 to 6 hours
Distance: Approximately 6 km
Environment: Moorland
Day three: Barranco camp (3985m) – Karanga Camp (4040m)
Hiking time: 5 to 6 hours
Distance: 6 km
Environment: Semi desert
Day four: Karanga camp (4040m) – Barafu camp (4680m)
Hiking time: 4 to 5 hours
Distance: Approximately 4 km
Environment: Alpine desert
Day five: Barafu camp (4680m) – Uhuru Peak (5895m) – Mweka (3090m)
Hiking time: 7 to 8 hours to reach Uhuru Peak, 6 to 8 hours to descend to Mweka Camp
Distance: Approximately 4,5 km ascent and 12 km descent
Environment: Stone scree and ice-capped summit
Day six: Mweka Camp (3090m) – Mweka Gate (1640m)
Hiking time: 6 to 8 hours
Distance: Approximately 9 km
Environment: Montane forest
